Nighttime Revolution
05:22
|
|||
I'm a reasonable man
But I can't seem to see
Where its heading and I,
I don't know if I can
Survive
If it's ending
My teeth feel some kind of funny, running straight out of my mouth, into some
Really vast concentric circles blocking turtles from their houses,
When I think of things connecting with their specters down below, I want to
Shout before I realize that were really all alone
I try to fall asleep but screeching tires keep me up, as I
Feel my stomach growling and turning inside out, I need to
Take my glasses off before my hunger pains subside, how can I
See whats to the the left if I cant see what's right behind
I'm a reasonable man
I say it but I know
I'm only guessing and I,
I dont' know if I can
Decide
Whats a blessing
I'm fighting nighttime revolutions in my head where I deal with you by
Lining empty apartments with books and hoping that it hides me
The cities crumble and fall to dust is rolling over not enough
To stop the airplane from rising and floating over to land where we know were on our own
My dreams
At night
They may
Surprise
If I don't know
Where they're coming from
And if I wake up in the morning, I
Won't see these things with the self I had though I'd try
And if i stay here I'd lose myself again
In a revolution that could never be and hasn't been

Original by Jeff Mangum
When you were young
You were the king of carrot flowers
And how you built a tower tumbling through the trees
In holy rattlesnakes that fell all around your feet
And your mom would stick a fork right into daddy's shoulder
And dad would throw the garbage all across the floor
As we would lay and learn what each other's bodies were for
And this is the room
One afternoon I knew I could love you
And from above you how I sank into your soul
Into that secret place where no one dares to go
And your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking
And dad would dream of all the different ways to die
Each one a little more than he could dare to try

The Tree of Life
04:37
|
|||
It rises up
The old oak tree
And the shade of the canopy
Extends to me
And the writhing roots grow deep
Past years of debris
And the long white leaves
Slightly sway in the soft breeze
Hold on tightly
Follow its twists and turns
You'll find me
Myth of the eternal return
The earth won't change
Beneath its feet
But the light shining down on me
Begins to seem
Like some groundless floating reeds
In a wordless sea
And it moves, oh how it moves
Right through me
Hold on tightly
Follow its twists and turns
You'll find me
Myth of the eternal return
